RACE REPORT- WEST YELLOWSTONE,
MONTANA
Saturday, January 19, 2008- PRO STOCK
Boys showed up on Saturday morning and made final
preparations on the sleds. The team race Pro Stock
only on Saturday amidst heavy snow dust- both
sleds battled snow coming into the air intake.
The team calibrated shocks and the rear skid to
accommodate track conditions.
Robbie Malinoski (#4) ran strong throughout his
heats in the pro stock class- with increasingly
better results as the day wore on.
Jeff Snow struggled with air intake and snow
dust issues failing to make the final round. Robbie
Malinoski fought a competitive battle for his
seventh place finish in the final, colliding with
Turcotte during the last two laps.
Sunday, January 20- PRO OPEN
Sleds preparations went late into Saturday night
for the Pro Open. Snow dust was intense with heavy
snow conditions and poor visibility. Again, snow
dust in the air intake became a hurdle. We ran
two rounds in the Pro Open, placing 4th and 5th
Officials cancelled the race due to heavy snow
and a resulting poor visibility.
Sunday night the crew worked on making adjustments
to the suspension in anticipation for Monday’s
final. Monday the MODS ran strong- Robby finished
2nd in the third round but was DQ’d for passing
on a yellow flag. Robby went to the LCQ again
finishing 2nd. He started the final in the back
row, passed four sleds after two laps. In the
third lap the brakes boiled over- losing them
completely resulting in a fifteen place finish.
The team left West Yellowstone, Montana on Monday
afternoon and will arrive Aspen, Colorado about
noon Tuesday in anticipation for WINTER X GAMES.
Practice starts Thursday.
