Malinoski Medals at Winter X 13
BOSS Racing returned to Buttermilk Mountain
in Aspen, Colorado over the past weekend to attempt
a podium at the most celebrated extreme sport
venue for winter sports. Tens of thousands of
fans flocked to the mountainside, in anticipation
of seeing the best winter sport athletes plying
their trade; BOSS Racing’s Robbie Malinoski, Dave
Allard and Paul Bauerly among them.
The BOSS camp worked feverishly under the direction
of new lead mechanic Ryan Duncan to prepare the
sleds for the extreme track in high altitude conditions.
The first chance to show the fruits of their labor
came Friday night in Round 1 and Round 2 qualifying.
Elation swept the team as both Pro Riders advanced
to the Saturday night Main event. Robbie with
a 2nd place finish and Allard with a 4th.
Saturday the crew set to work all day, chasing
a mechanical issue with Robbie’s sled. Under intense
pressure and a ticking clock, the team came through
to deliver impressive equipment for the grueling
final course.
Bauerly advanced through the LCQ to the main,
positioning all 3 Ski-Doo/ BOSS riders in the
X Games medal run. Two qualified on the front
line, one in the back when the race began. Robbie
got a great hole shot, and he and Tucker were
running toe-to-toe to the first corner. Tucker
took the inside line, pushing Malinoski to the
outside edge of the track. Robbie quickly recovered
and advanced to 2nd overall in the first few laps,
carrying him all the way to the Silver Medal.
Allard had a bad start and got buried in the
back, but true to his style he methodically passed
one rider after another to end his run in 6th.
Bauerly suffered mechanical issues, which sent
him to the back and he finished in 14th overall.
“A Silver Medal at X Games is an incredible achievement
for Robbie, Boss Racing and Ski-Doo. We are so
excited to be able to showcase the teams commitment
and talent during the most high profie event of
the season. We wished all of our sponsors could
have been here to join us in the celebration,
because we could not be here without them”- Garry
Querel- Team Owner
